UNOMSA
(United Nations Observation Mission in South Africa) (1994)
The job was to provide an international monitoring of the
electoral campaign and to deploy international observers for the first
multi-racial election in South Africa. I worked in Kwazulu Natal with its
wonderful landscape and some time violent clashes between ANC and Inkata
supporters.
I feel that the UNOMSA was a crucial help to insure a peacefull
transition to a multi-racial democracy and in any case it was a great fun to
visit the remote polling stations and assist with few advices here and there.
